Hello,
In Sweden there is a special KY for those who have chronic fatigue
symptom. This is a very successful type of KY and it has helped many
recovered from this tiresome and difficult condition. Lots of deep
breathing from beginning with 3 min ryggflex. 2 - 3 times a day. Heart
meditation Guru Ram Das and Kirtan kriya. Add 3 min Sat kriya when you
feel you have built up more strength. It takes longer time to move to
next step with more exercises in a set.

[Kundalini Yoga] Psychic question

 

My understanding is that in any area of life you can pick up a skill, but if you want it to remain in good form, you have to keep practicing. Use it or lose it (or at least have it go very rusty for lack of attention).

If you're serious about working as a reader, then you'll be using whatever skills you acquire on a regular basis for the specific purposes you're aiming at, would you not? That would suggest that those specific skills would not go rusty (though you might get stuck in a rut if you do the same thing day in, day out).

Having been Wiccan for many years, I can promise you that you get out of Wiccan spiritual practice of whatever variety what you put into it, and I assume that to hold true for any path. I've never met a Wiccan (or Druid, or Hellenic Reconstructionist, or Ceremonial Magician, or other person on a spiritual path) who suddenly gained psychic powers through practice; they all had some level of sensitivity, from "I regularly have predictive dreams" to "I have no capacity for energy work" - and the only predictor of whether or not they became skilled at using their sensitivity had to do with whether or not they worked at it with an open heart and a willingness to mess up and own and learn from mistakes in order to make progress.

I find that learning for the love of it, rather than simply as a means to an end, makes the process meaningful and more likely to produce positive results in life. It often takes you to places you didn't expect to be.

[Kundalini Yoga] Re: the L in the sa ta na ma kriya--this is hearing the sound L?

 

Though I've only had a couple of KY lessons, I'm in the middle of doing a 40-day kirtan kriya, and my understanding is that the "L" is a visualisation. I imagine it like this:

The plumming metaphor: Imagine a pipe that goes from the top of my head to my perineum through which energy flows, the chakras existing at the end of pipes which connect to that main pipe. So the "L" in this case is where the light flows into the crown chakra and flows down to the point where it connects with the pipe leading to the third eye chakra. You're not allowing the light to just flow all the way down from the top of the main pipe to the bottom; you're actively directing it from the crown chakra to the third eye. So the "L" is that portion of the pipe system between crown and third eye.

The plant metaphor: Imagine a great stalk running through my body from perineum to crown. It has stems running off it at intervals which connect to the chakras (which I often see as flowers). The main stalk feeds those flowers by feeding them energy and nutrients. In this case, the "L" is the energy - the light - being poured in through the crown (like watering a plant), and being actively directed to the third eye to feed it. In fact, both crown and third eye are being "fed" - the crown by directly receiving the light, the third eye by receiving the light through the stem system from the crown.

My experience is that people vary in their ability to visualise. If you're good at "seeing" things, that's great. If not, you can be aware that you know that this is what's going on. I have been through cycles of seeing the "L" very clearly, and of having it fade almost to nothing - but I hung on to being very sure it was there. At this point, at 15 days in, the visualisation has become very clear indeed; I don't know if that will continue to be the case all the way through.

This sounds fascinating. I'm a real newcomer to Kundalini Yoga, so I'm intrigued by this, and will have to do some research. If you do get feedback from your heal-ee, would you be prepared to share it and discuss what was done? I hope that's not out of order to ask about, and if it's not The Done Thing, I entirely respect that.

you actually chant Wahe Guru ... long drawn out ... holding hands in a
circle, right palm face down, left palm face up, "leader chants, everyone
chants in back together, leader says "sat nam", then next person on the left
is the leader ... etc. continually for 11 to 31 minutes. You can find
directions for this online .. it is officially called the "healing Ring of
Tantra".

[Kundalini Yoga] Psychic question

 

I noticed that in the book it mentions methods on how to develop psychic powers but also mentions that they are hard to keep (or something along that line). I'd like to know if this is the case with other types of meditation training like Wiccan techniques, qi gong etc.

I'll still do kundalini yoga but I want the abilities to stick around because I'm interested in psychic reading as a profession. I want to be the type of reader who relies only on psychic ability.
