Re: [Kundalini Yoga] Have Costochondritis and need help

I'm not sure that we completely create our own illness.  Perhaps you can remain as positive as you possibly can and just do what you can do and do your best whatever your goals may be.  I hope you improve and am sure you will get better.

Subject: [Kundalini Yoga] Have Costochondritis and need help

Sat Nam,
I have practiced KY for over 10 years and committed to Yoga Teacher Training in September (Hatha approach).
Two and a half months ago I was diagnosed with Costochondritis. Inflammation due to a separation from the rib to the cartilage.  This injury or illness (as the cause cannot be determined in my case) has incapacitated me on many levels.  Just a couple weeks ago I had to let go of my schooling to regroup for the new September session.  The acceptance of this delay, the pain I am experiencing, the realization that we (I) create our own illnesses, has been part of my process now.  In short, I am grieving, am evaluating my lifestyle, and am searching through my basic core issues.
I feel like I am at the beginning (which, really I am).
I am looking for advice, suggestions, ideas or kriyas that will not trigger pain in the ribs and gently with self forgiveness boost my first three chakras of grounding, power and energy.
Plus any ideas what to do with inflammation.  I am a vata body type, artist.
Help?
Thank you in advance
Namaste
Jeanette

RE: [Kundalini Yoga] Re: can it done in nude

Sat Nam,

That’s a very interesting question and why do you think it would be necessary to do so?

Sat Nam,
I stumbled across the Maya Fieness series "Mantras of Kundalini Yoga" on Amazon Prime as a free stream for prime members. It seems like the same as the 7 part DVD series - more or less a 30 minute kriya followed by a 15 or 20 minute mantra. I am currently doing the "Har" one from the wealth kriya.  It is similar to Guru Rattana's Taurus set with some modifications.  GRs set is better because it is the full class with explanation and so on.  MF's version skips the breath of fire with arms extended at the beginning and uses a different version of "Har" (the one where your pointer fingers meet then you draw a circle and your little finges meet).  But the MF video is perfect for when you need to fit a set within an hour time slot. Personally I really like doing kriyas with a video because I don't have to watch a clock. If you are an Amazon prime member check it out.  They have other hatha sets for free streaming also,

Sat Nam

I have heard some good results using the Ayurvedic compound lakshadi guggul. Also Ranunculus Bulbosus is said to be effective.

Re: [Kundalini Yoga] Gift of Womanhood

Sat Nam,

Check out my book The Gift of Womanhood -- Inner Mastery, Outer Mystery. Available on www.yogatech.com

This book synthesizes all the basic teachings into an understandable coherent whole and offers guidance on how to achieve the results women are looking for.

A male teacher who has been around from the beginning told his women students
"When a book like this comes out, everyone must have it." (men included)

Blessings,

Guru Rattana :+)

Re: [Kundalini Yoga] Re: Should a married woman dance with men other than her husband?

Satnam,

Have you tried discussing your feeling with your wife?  If it is creating tension then you need to talk about it, but in a caring way.  As you say you want to give pleasure to your wife and no to control her, but if certain dances are causing you distress you need to discuss it.  If it goes unresolved it could drive you apart.

A previous poster suggested learning to dance yourself.  Make the suggestion.  I myself love to dance and would be overjoyed to dance with my husband.  Fortunately I only tend to dance early (16th century) dances which are at arms length and with people we have both known for many years.  It feels more like dancing with your brother.

Love & light

Well my wife is dancing now. The intimacy of it bothers me. I don't think it has to do with my ego. Do you enjoy seeing women intimate with your husbands? To me it seems inappropriate, and it doesn't seem graceful or noble. That is the conflict I am having, and that is why I have asked the question, for help.

One person responded : "The 'tango' is a very intimate dance displaying each partner in provocative positions.  It is designed to heighten the sexual attraction to each other and show others the love and affection the couple have together."  While I have never heard this before, this is more disturbing. Why would any woman be doing this dance with anyone other than her husband?

I agree that cultures vary. Obviously in many cultures this would not be acceptable. I just want to do the right thing, live the correct way, I don't want to control my wife, but on the other hand the intimacy of another man touching my wife that way is a very disturbing thing to me sometimes.

Thanks
