Re: [Kundalini Yoga] Karani Kriya breath question

A quick answer : The Kriya of Creativity (Karnee)

The inhale is short, deep and very fast so you can do deep inhale in 2-3 seconds.  You hold your breath as long as you can but at least 5 seconds while mentally chanting a mantra. I usually hold it for at least 10 seconds to allow prana to get established in every conscious cell of my body.  Then the exhalation is prolonged and slow to completion which should take about 10-15 seconds.  You want the whole of the Universe to manifest through you as apana mixes with prana. Then inhale deep, short and fast, and keep on for 11 minutes.

This is just the breathing part of it. You sit in Easy Pose with the ring (Sun) and pinky (Mercury) fingers bent and locked with your thumbs.  The tips of the index (Jupiter) and middle (Saturn) fingers, which are held together, touch in front of your Throat Center.  This may be difficult as some of us have much longer middle fingers than index finges, but this makes the mudra the more challenging.  Elbows are raised and parallel to the floor.  Eyes are kept opened but some teachers ask us to keep them 9/10.  I usually keep mine open and focused at a distance to disengage the optic nerve.

Hope this helps.

Hello all,
I am starting Karani kriya, The instructions say :-

Completely exhale for 10 -15 seconds.

I think this means take 1--15 seconds to exhale and start inhaling straight away rather than exhale quickly and hold the breat out for 1--15 seconds.

Does anyone know if this is right?

Thanks,
Keith.
