Re: [Kundalini Yoga] Re: the limitations of science

I realize that I am coming into (possibly butting into) the middle of a conversion.  But I just wanted to say that I am appreciating the comments concerning the limitations of science.  As a woman with a bachelors in physics, I know a lot about its strengths and its limitations.

One of the most concerning limitations is how its discoveries routinely become the means by which the next generation of horrible weapons is brought into our world.  No one has told me this, but I now feel certain that the point of studying objects in motion (usually found in Physics 101) is to have the ability to correctly aim cannon balls.  (That is why friction and air currents can be safely ignored -- such things are negligible for so heavy an object.)  And in just this last century the equivalency of matter and energy (one of Einstein's gifts to the world) led to the development of the A-bomb.

As a woman who has a profound belief in peace, I find these applications of science (which conveniently disavows all responsibility for the consequences of its knowledge) highly disturbing.  It leaves me wondering how to ethically be a part of this culture that so worships destruction.  (With my nation the USA being the one which routinely invades and bombs other countries and thus most responsible for these atrocities.)

If it is allowed to discuss what is possibly a quite political and "hot" topic in this forum, I would appreciate others' thoughts on this matter.  If it is too "hot", then I suppose I'll just have to continuing my wondering for now.

Sat Nam,
Denise

Hello Hedieh - do you mean science? I am interested in this too but it's a difficult subject. I believe kundalini yoga contains some of the great wisdom of humanity but there are many problems with trying to approach it in a scientific way - one of them being that it deals with us at a level which is way beyond the understanding of much of current science - it deals with and works on the interactions / interfaces / relationships between our systems - systems which science only partially understands when treated in isolation.

The way to find out about it is to do it with discipline and see how you change and what you learn as a result.

After a while you know better in a useful practical way how a human really works that just about any scientist.

best wishes,

Keith
