[Kundalini Yoga] Re: A question about starting Kundalini yoga

Sat Nam, Dear Nukhet,

What you were told is not true, Kundalini Yoga can be the first and only yoga one practices. This is the case for many people. There are also people who studied other types of yoga for years and then took their first Kundalini Yoga class, and they truly believe that they were prepared for Kundalini Yoga by their previous years of study.

Every human being has their own spiritual path that is your unique path, and you guide yourself to Kundalini Yoga when it is the right time for you. There is no right or wrong, but whenever you apply the technology of Kundalini Yoga, the benefits will come. The practices are self cleansing and self protective and self nourishing and self illuminating. If you follow the teachings as they are given in the published manuals or with a KRI certified teacher, you are always protected. If you practice sincerely, it can work very fast, or you can work at a slower pace. Each person determines their own pace.

All yoga is good. There are many disciplines and schools of yoga that have grown out of the eight limbs of yoga, and every form of yoga will ultimately serve to awaken the dormant Kundalini energy that resides in every human being. When asked to describe the difference between Kundalini Yoga and other forms of yoga, Yogi Bhajan said that if you want to take the bus, practice one of the forms of Hatha Yoga. It will get you there but it is very slow. If you want to take a Jet Plane, practice Kundalini Yoga. It works very fast. He said that Kundalini Yoga is known as the Mother Yoga because the practices contain all of the other forms of yoga. If you take the KRI Aquarian Teacher Training program, you will be encouraged to investigate other schools of yoga, to experience their practices, not for the purpose of judging them or creating confusion in your own practice, but to give you an understanding of the experiences of your students that will come to you.

Yogi Bhajan studied with masters of many different disciplines of yoga in India, before he came to America, and he was declared a master of Kundalini Yoga when he was only 16 years of age. After all of his studies, when he arrived in America, he decided to teach only Kundalini Yoga because he knew that the time was short. In 1969 it was already the dawning of the Age of Aquarius. A great shift in consciousness of humanity had to take place for our successful transformation into the Aquarian Age by 2012. Now that time draws ever more near, with a very short time before we are receiving the full rays from the center of our galaxy, and the true fact of the matter is, that time has arrived. This is the New Age and changes throughout the earth are happening VERY FAST now. Kundalini Yoga is an excellent protective shield to have as we serve our fellow humanity during this great shift and ride out this wave of tremendous transformation we are undergoing.

Many blessings to you on your path.

Sat Nam

I was told that one should not start kundalini yoga as their first yoga practice. One should do other tpyes of yoga, open his/her channels, learn about the small universe and then start Kundalini yoga.

Is this the case? I will be most grateful for the information!
