Re: [Kundalini Yoga] Breath of fire and Kalapati

Sat Nam;

Kapalbhati and Breath of Fire are very similar. In Breath of Fire the exhalation and inhalation are of the same duration. But more importantly, Breath of Fire utilizes the power of the Navel Point (Center) during exhalation instead of pumping. This generates the Agni Fire from Muladhara Chakra so that the prana-apana, if balanced, can go down to Muladhara and begin moving Kundalini energy. Kapalbhati, as traditionally taught, is part of the six Sat-Karmas in Hath Yoga used as part of the physical body purification practices.

Breath of Fire has a slightly, but significantly, different purpose.

Hope this helps.

Sat Nam
