[Kundalini Yoga] Re: Question for Kundalini yogis who do Structural Integration or Heller work

I cant advise about structural integration but I have tried quite a few 'modalities' and there are a lot of people giving advice coming from different spiritual/religious beliefs and different 'scientific' beliefs that aren't necessarily very scientific. Also many people give advice that is affected by commercial prejudice ie. Don't go there for help come to me.

There is also advice that is honest but mis-guided and advice that is totally correct.

And there is often no way to tell the difference except your own intuition. !

From my experience the Kundalini yoga kriyas even if taken out of any religious or spiritual context come from people who had a very deep understanding of human functioning, way beyond what western somatic practitioners know about. If you use them with common sense and follow instructions correctly you are very unlikely to harm yourself unless you aggravate an existing medical condition.

I have never heard of exercise risking shortening muscle but am only a layman. The movement in K yoga encourages the release of long held tension and freeing up of the fascia - that is healthy lengthening. I think this is also what Hellerwork etc works for to - but in K yoga they have figured out how you can do it for yourself.

Yoga / meditation that encourages you to discover and develop your internal awareness leads you to become your own expert on yourself.

These other things can help though - A buddhist group I really respect in England uses them to help. I can't really afford that sort of stuff though.
