Pull the navel in, yes.

When I do this exercise, I pump the stomach (that is to say, pull the
navel in, and then release it) in sync with my 4 sniffs in.
One sniff, pull in navel while sniffing, release navel at end of sniff
(don't exhale)
last sniff, inhale all the way, hold stomach until full inhale complete,
then release.
The rest involves continuing, and then when time elapsed, hold in navel
and breath on the last sniff of the last set of 4 sniffs (the one to
make the full inhale (sniff, sniff, sniff, SNIFF)) and push hard with
hands, tense up whole body, and then exhale and relax. Repeat one more
set of four sniffs, tense body, hold, exhale and relax.
Should be good. have fun.
