[Kundalini Yoga] Re: Amenorrhea

This is pretty out there, but the following is some information I came
across during my early days studying Kundalini Yoga with Yogi Bhajan in LA.
Some of you may remember Diana Schnurr, who was the first publisher of Beads
of Truth, and perhaps her husband at the time? I do not remember her
husband's name at the moment. But, one day he showed me some research that
described experiments conducted on two generations of women in England,
which concluded that a monthly menses is not necessary for women. I thought
he said the research was conducted by Dr. Bernard Jensen, but I have
searched for years and not discovered any reference to it. Basically, the
research found that women who do three things-exercise regularly; eat a
vegetable-based diet with no animal protein, including dairy products; and
who go swimming every day or immerse in cold water-do not menstruate. Why?
Because each month, the lining of the uterus collects all of a woman's best
and worst, her best nutrients and the toxins in her body. If she becomes
pregnant, then that lining is used to nurture the fetus. If she does not
become pregnant, then that lining is eliminated through the monthly period,
so that is, of course, why the period is cleansing for a woman, as her
body's toxins are purged, each month-(heavier period with more toxins,
lighter period with less toxins). What Dr. Jensen theorized and claimed that
he proved in the research is that if a woman's body is free of heavy toxins
and animal protein, the lining in her uterus has only nutrients and she does
not need to eliminate it. Instead, those nutrients are simply reabsorbed
back into her body.

Diana Schnurr's husband showed me the research and I read it, but did not
get a copy. I loved the theory and was already vegetarian, taking a cold
shower every morning, and doing lots of yoga, so I was not surprised when my
period stopped. I was quite thrilled actually, and I felt great, very
healthy. That was around 1970 or 1971 and I continued to have no period up
until the time I became pregnant and gave birth to my healthy daughter in
1975.

After her birth, I started loving yogi tea with milk and yogurt and other
dairy products, so my period started again after about a year of nursing,
and I was not motivated after that to stop it.

So, I read the research and experienced it, but I have not found any
documentation or seen any reference to the information anywhere, since that
day when Diana Schnurr's husband showed it to me. I would love to find it
and share the ideas with other women, because there is so much literature
out there telling women if they do not menstruate there is definitely
something wrong with them and they need to take drugs or undergo therapy to
make their period start. Yuk. Okay, perhaps that is true sometimes, but it
is not always true.

Has anyone else seen or heard of this research? Or does anyone remember
Diana Schnurr's husband's name? I seem to recall him saying that the
research was banned in the U.S. -not surprising-but, these days there are
less defined borders with the internet, so it should reemerge. It has to be
available somewhere.?
