Regarding the Microwave - What I did is take it out of the kitchen and put it in the garage. If it is in the kitchen it can become the default device easily, but once in a while it is useful. The last time I used it was maybe a month ago to heat soy milk for hot chocolate (unsweetened) when I was in a hurry.
Ideally, it probably would not be used at all, but this is a workable compromise.
My non replaceable kitchen device is a rice cooker with a timer. Grains get more available nutrients when they soak before cooking, so i put up oatmeal for breakfast the night before and it is ready when I finish sadhana in the morning. I put up rice for dinner before I go out and it is ready when I come hungry.
be well, tom
