Really root your feet into the earth as you assume the lunge (however deep is comfortable- no need to push it as you are getting to know the pose);feel balanced and supported. Keep a mild root-lock to increase your stability and support your whole body. Hold your bow, draw back the quiver stretching across your chest, look over your thumb at a far distant point, and focus like a laser. Breath long and deep. It's great if you can play the Gobindey Mukunday Udarey Aparey Hariang Kariang Nirnamey Akamey mantra. Once you've settled into the pose, you can chant along (or to Chattr Chakkr Vartee or another Jaap Sahib mantra)or just continue to focus, feel powerful, calm, and centered while breathing long and deep.
