Sat nam,
I'm hoping this group can offer some hopeful hints on my friend's condition. He has occasional heart palpitations that come on suddenly - he feels really light-headed and like he's about to faint and loses consciousness in/out. His breathing is normal. His mouth is dry. There's no relation between the attacks and stress.
Over the last 3 years, it's gotten worse and worse. He says it feels like his heart stops and then continues with weird palpitations like his heart is going to stop permanantly.
He's been to 2 cardiologists, and they've ruled out a stroke and brain aneurysm, as well as any signs of arterial clogging. He's had a stress test, halter monitor, EKG, ultrasound and heart card monitor.
He does not smoke, do drugs (prescription or recreational). He does drink alcohol occasionally. He is one of the cleanest eaters I know - very little sugar, mostly raw foods, high quality supplements.
Unfortunately, he had asthma and bronchitis as a kid - for about 25 years, he used an inhaler, sometimes a few times a day - Primatine with OTC pills to help with that. He researched and though changing his diet and supplements, stopped taking those OTC drugs about 10 years ago. He's heard that the old formulation of Primatine was used by weightlifters (not sure why) - maybe that had long-term consequences for his health?
He's one of the most strong-minded, independent people I know.
Any advice, medical or yogic? Are there any meditations specifically to regulate and strengthen the heart? I am asking out of love, hoping that there will be a lead for him.
Thank you for reading this!
Sincerely,
Amy/Sat Prem
