Re: [Kundalini Yoga] Help

Sat Nam, Kim.
I think Kundulini yoga can help you. It would be best if you can find a teacher in your area that can work with you. Where are you from?
Love,

[Kundalini Yoga] Re: severe back pain

By now you've probably gone to the doc or figured out some course of action. What you're describing sounds so much like what happened to me last summer, so I'll share my "miracle cure". Somehow I pulled something lugging a heavy suitcase around on the way to the airport to depart for a cruise to Alaska. Then I foolishly did the basic spinal kriya thinking it would loosen me up and put things back in the right places- WRONG! My back got progressively worse throughout the day until I could barely walk. Great, stuck on the big cruise boat for a week, unable to move. So, when the infirmary finally opened on Monday morning, I went thinking they'd suggest something like muscle relaxers and painkillers, but was very surprised when they gave me was 800 mg. 3x/day of a presciption version of time release ibuprofen. I would never take something like that on my own- Aleve has all kinds of warnings for only 400 mgs/day! In 3 days I was about 100%- vacation saved.

So now I eat cherries regularly for their natural anti-inflammatory properties (sour are supposed to be best, but sweet work great, too),and my stomach is not destroyed by NSAIDs. They are great if you're prone to achy-ness!

RE: [Kundalini Yoga] severe back pain

Hi Michael,

Usually if you have a ruptured disc one of the signs is pain down into buttock or even to the legs, but this isn't always the case or an absolute, the best way is to see a physician who will order diagnostics, x-rays or MRI to confirm. I have strained my back moving a heavy bed bound patient and had the same complaints of difficulty walking and increased stiffness and pain when sitting though was relieved alittle with standing back extensions, it cleared up after about 3 weeks with a gradual decrease in pain and returned to yoga and gym regime with little after effects, I just had to modify my activities accordingly. i did not have a disc problem rather a muscle problem which is 100% better. Oh, I'm a physio as well so knew how to manage it.

Dear fellow yogis,

could someone advise me on what to do after i severely strained my back. I can barely walk since the incident (2 days ago), and am having a tough time on my sadhana. I had to drop the sun salutations and wake up series. is there an easy way to tell if i ruptured a disk or something like that? the back feels normal to the touch, but I can't tolerate sitting and it stiffens up, making movement a real adventure....

Sat Nam
