Re: [Kundalini Yoga] Falling asleep

Sat Nam yogi's,
I have been experimenting with a lot of things namely binaural beats, kirtan's of Krishna Das ji and even some tracks by the hard rock band Tool from their album Lateralus which i found a masterpiece after some research. Music has been my constant and only friend in the recent past. Be it waking up or sleeping or any other task.
But i have a personal concern and i want the help of all of you in this regard.
Is a lot of music having adverse effects on my ear drums? Although i try to keep a tap on the volume but sometimes i just passionately turn it on to full. So just a little bit concerned.
Regards.

Hi Yogis,

Question for everyone:  Do you do anything special when you fall asleep?

I have often  been listening to mantra as I fall out:  Either Sanatnam Kaur's Ra Ma Das Aa or Mantra Girls's Wahe Guru to get me in the right space for the journey into sleep.

I wonder what other focus points my fellow yogi's might use?  Guided meditation, prayer, whatever?

Sat Nam,

Tom

Fwd: [Kundalini Yoga] Metallic Taste

I need to add a post script here as I have just committed an error which irks me to see from others....

It sounds as if your liver and gall bladder may be releasing toxins.  If you experience other symptoms or if you are at all concerned, please see your health care practitioner.

Peace,

Joan

Get out your leafy greens and congratulate your liver/gall bladder for getting with the program and cleansing.  As you are practicing Sat Kriya, let your awareness sit in those organs.  Experience the flow, where there is not flow, release, where there is release. What you are experiencing is natural and perfect.

Deep green leafy vegetables, dandelion, milk thistle, bitter taste will assist in a gentle and beautiful way.  And...... water, pure, clean water.

I am 60 and started doing KY almost two years ago off and on.  I get frequent colds from my grandchildren so it was hard to do it consistently.  The past 10 weeks, however, I've had no colds and have been able to do it almost daily for 30-45 minutes.  I always include a Sat Kriya, sometimes two, for 3 minutes.  This has caused an awakening-like experience in the past 3 or 4 times where I had a lot of energy and alertness for several days, then it quiets down.

About two weeks now I have felt overstimulated with a metallic taste in the mouth and some irritability and have had to remove all stimulants from my diet and supplements.  It has improved but I am wondering if it is possible that the the daily KY and Sat Kriya have triggered this and will this go away soon?  I also feel progressively calmer (though stimulated!), more fit and more focused so feel the benefits of the KY in this regard.

Yes, I like chattra chakkra varte by kulwant Singh playing quietly all night long, even with the volume turned right down, the vibration of protection is streaming.  Another good one is Singh Kaurs Rake Rakinhar. Hope this helps.  Sat nam ❤️

RE: [Kundalini Yoga] New Member, Looking to Learn about KY and Meditation

Sat Nam, I teach Kundalini Yoga in Rogers, AR. Some of the movement may ask that you look upward, to the 3rd eye, some may ask that you look down, some have not direction – and sometimes it is just "focus on the 3rd eye" with you attention, not, necessarily turning your closed eyes upward. And I always believe that if it is hurting, stop, rest (for a few minutes or a few weeks) and just do what you can – i.e. continue with the movement but w/o turning up your eyes. In time, you'll be able to do it longer w/o pain

Thank you for responding! I do KY DVD's at home. I have also taken a KY class at a local yoga center.

I have another question- when we do the KY exercises we're told to look up and in at the 3rd eye the whole time we're doing the exercises. My eyes hurt after doing this for 3 days ( I mean practicing at home the KY DVD's 3 days in a row) and I'm a little worried that it will cause problems for my eyes and eye muscles. Do I have to look up and in at my 3rd eye point during the exercises? Can I just close my eyes and do the exercises? I don't want to hurt my eyes and get cross-eyed eventually from doing this drishti on the 3rd eye lol.

Thank You,

Shana
