[Kundalini Yoga] Re: Beginner of sorts

Sat Nam, don't know where you are right now so I can't recommend any KY teachers here in the Midwest.  Here is a link for you:

info@jaidevsingh.com

He is an excellent yogi and teacher and sincerely believes in Sadhana. He also runs a website which you can subscribe to for about $25 a month. The aim is to help people establish and maintain their own spiritual practice. I think the first month is free. Good luck and Blessings!

Re: [Kundalini Yoga] Beginner of sorts

Sat Nam, Seva Simran Singh,

Thank you so much for your letter.
I loved reading your sincere words and hear that you are back on your mat. :+)

Fortunately you can take lessons with me on-line. :+)

go to www.yogatech.com  and see the link for Guru Rattana On-Line

For you and others like you we have created Guru Rattana On-Line Streaming video classes. Of course it is wonderful to be in the physical presence of a teacher who holds the sacred space of love in his or her consciousness. Many great souls are, however, now being called on to do the work without this luxury. What is required now is that we wake up and stay awake to Divine Love. Whether we practice alone or in a group, raising our vibration is helping to shift the morphogenetic field of the planet to the vibration of love.

You will get back to where you were much faster than you think!!

Blessings on your path,

Guru Rattana :+)

As a result my practice faltered and then died. In a way so did I. It is very, very dificult to keep up a practice on your own.

A Hatha yoga studio finally opened in the town near where I live but it isn't the same. I went for awhile and it seems to be geared more towards physical fitness than anything. To me, that is not yoga; it is just exercise. So here I am. I just rolled a mat out on the floor; it is 7 AM in the morning. I am going to try to scrape together what is left of a practice that has gone by the way side.

I'm not real sure how I ended up at this group. Maybe I just needed some encouragement. Maybe I need someone to talk to about yoga and how it relates to my life and how it helps me relate to the world around me. There is one thing I know for sure. I need to get back to where I was so long ago when I was doing Sadhana everyday. Starting over is very, very hard.

RE: [Kundalini Yoga] Beginner of sorts

Sat Nam. When I first started practicing I too practiced on my own – from books – then got some videos (now DVDs) from Ravi Singh, which I still love. I started teaching Hatha, since I also practiced Hatha for many years and got certified, had a Kyoga workshop with Mehtab and Guru Karam from YogaYoga Austin, and he said "teach" so I did, a few years later my husband and I went to level 1 teacher training and are certified. Taught regular classes at our studio, but classes dwindled, so now we only offer occasional workshops.

Yogi Bhajan said, "learn a set (Kriya), teach a set" – if you can't find a class, start one – seriously, it is OK to do as long as you following the sets (lessening the amount of time for each movement).  There are probably others out there who are looking for "more" than Hatha – you are right, it seems "watered down" after K-Yoga.

And if you feel you need a boost once in a while, go to a White Tantra event – they are in various cities across the US and Europe at different times of the year – and are amazing.

Good luck to you. Sat nam.

Re: [Kundalini Yoga] Re: Newbie question: Women, why clear your female arcline?

Dear Guru Rattana,

I will make sure to get your book. I will surely need it on my spiritual voyage, since I am trying to dive into what is beneath all these layers of consciousness. :) Also to get a grip over what womanhood is (for me).

I will humbly post my experience every now and then, since I am imagining that there will (hopefully) be big emotional releases soon. As of now I have upped the ante even more, doing four kriyas a day for about an hour and fifteen minutes. I will see how much I can take, or if it is just enough for me to handle. We'll see!

Wahe guru!

[Kundalini Yoga] Re: Kirtan Kriya resource

One thing I felt was very complimentary with Kirtan Kriya was also chanting the 18th pauri of Japji 11x/day. It "fights madness, deep feelings of inferiority, and self-destructive behavior", and isn't that a pretty good description of unwanted love attachments?

[Kundalini Yoga] Re: Kirtan Kriya resource

Mirabai Ceiba has a beautiful, inspirational 31 minute version that even has time allotted to inhale at the end of every four SaTaNaMas. It's at a comfortable rhythm, too. Most recordings are to be too fast for me to relax and enjoy. It also has musical cues to let you know the segment is changing. It's on their "Cycle of Life" cd.
