[Kundalini Yoga] Re: Sat Kriya variant - Can anyone help?

I saw the Power of the Angels meditation in a friend's copy of "Kundalini Yoga Fan" by Pritam Hari Kaur, which is available on Spiritvoyage.com. I haven't been able to find it by itself on the internet, unfortunately. It's a great variation to try. Hopefully I've relayed it's description correctly!

Your question stirred my curiosity and Grace  guided me to the 21 Stages of Meditation Book, by Gurucharan Singh Khalsa, PhD.

The variation of the Sat Kriya is presented on page 230 on the  digital version of the book.   As introduced by Gurucharan this meditation is on Stage Ten:  Politeness.  Politeness is an expression of that non dual experience. All the world is us and we are all the world.  Or as Yogi Bhajan often said, " If you can't see God in all, you can't see God at all"

[Kundalini Yoga] RE: Sat Kriya variant - Can anyone help?

 

There's another similar and wonderful variation in a book that's a fan of kriyas and and meditations a friend of mine has. It's called "power of the angels". Your left hand goes over your heart and your right hand goes straight up with index finger pointed, as I recall. 10 minutes of regular chanting "sat nam" with the navel pull on sat, then 1 minute of whistling to the rhythm of sat nam (whistle out on sat, whistle in on the nam). Totally cool!

"Sit straight in a cross-legged position. Raise the right arm straight up, lifting the shoulder, with the palm facing toward you, fingers spread wide. The left hand rests on the left knee. Eyes are closed. Chant Sat Nam in a constant rhythm, about 8 times per 10 seconds. Chant Sat from the navel, pulling the Navel Point all the way in towards the spine. On Nam, relax the belly. Continue for 11, 22 or 31 minutes. To end: Inhale, hold and squeeze the entire body, bringing the energy up. Exhale and relax."

[Kundalini Yoga] Sat Kriya variant - Can anyone help?

 

Someone in class this morning mentioned having heard of a variant of the Sat Kriya in which only the right hand was held up straight above the head, the left hand resting perhaps in gyan mudra.  They did not know the source of this or have any further information.

 

Is there anyone out there who has heard of this and can verify a documented source?

[Kundalini Yoga] to Squat or Not to Squat - a very good article for us yoga folks


Sat Nam all ya'll,
     This article explains to me why an old injury I had suffered while in high school actual ceased to be a problem once I started doing Frog Pose at 30. I began doing 5 minutes a day for 7 months (and then completely laying out for 11 mins - the rejuvenation was profound!). This article focuses more so on a complete flex of the ankle while squatting, or what we call "Crow Pose".
Obviously if there is pain in the knee then adjust the effort accordingly, but don't write off the idea of a deep squat. For these past 3 years I have been healing from a new knee injury (unrelated to yoga), and have been slowing adding Frogs back into my practice as it has healed.
And don't forget your Ginger and Turmeric (Golden Milk).... always good for inflammation and flexibility.

[Kundalini Yoga] Three issues (two different diseases and a question about Yogi Bhajan's life)

Two of my students have been diagnosed has having autoimmune alopecia
(she's just 30 years old) and carpal tunnel syndrome (he's 50 years old).

Do you have some yogic/holistic tips to help them about these two issues?

The third one is about the "biography" of Yogi Bhajan.
